Why Do They Do That?

This seems incredible to me, but there are some people who actually put their feet up on sofas, couches and armchairs without removing their shoes. I understand that not everybody has realised the sense in always removing their shoes at the door, but putting shoes on sofas is just bizarre.

I even remove my slippers before putting my feet up on the sofa. My parents do too.

Do they think about the fact that somebody is going to sit where their shoes have been positioned?

Do they just love their shoes so much they will not even remove them to put their feet up? Do they even wear their shoes in bed?

You're silly. No one wears their shoes in bed.

Have you never seen those Clint Eastwood films?

Are you sure nobody wears shoes in bed?

Surely, even you must agree that it is silly to put one's feet up on the sofa with shoes on.

If somebody is daft enougth to do that, who knows what bad habits they might have.

Oh no! I was just about to say, what about people who put their feet on the table. Lol

Matthew, you can always argue that even Moses was asked to remove his shoes.

Rose, I suppose I am a stranger.

You put your feet on a coffee table with shoes on? That is bad. So you do put your dirty shoes up on the sofa? Dont you worry about your furniture? Do you let your children do that?

Sarah, thanks for dropping in.

Putting your feet on your own coffee table is fine in my book if you are not wearing shoes. Shoes could easily scratch or mark it.

Very true about Moses.

My shoes aren't that dirty. I watch where I step and I check them regularly. I even wash them. Shoes are not as dirty as you think. I would not put them on the kitchen table or in my bed, though. I do draw a line.

Actually,
we have a 36" square leather ottoman which has a multi-function of coffee table/foot rest. I put my shoes on that without the least bit of guilt. None whatsoever.

You never answered my last email.

Rose, sorry about that. I have sent you an email.

Your shoes are almost certainly dirtier than you realise. You may avoid dog mess, but you will still pick up small traces. You will also pick up dust and grit particles. The former build up which is detrimental to health and the latter cause wear to carpets.

I like wear on my carpet. That way I have a reason to get NEW carpet more often. You can't beat NEW carpet for cleanliness!

;~)

(I can win any argument ... eve if it is only in my own mind)

Well, what does John think about new carpets? I am sure he has some ideas about your getting a new carpet as soon as possible.

Are arguments ever won? I think people take time to change their opinions.

I think you are excellent in debates, Rose~. I am just glad you are on my side most of the time.
