Slippers for sale everywhere

One of the things I noticed in Japan was that you could buy slippers from so many different shops- supermarkets, dollar stores (100 Yen stores), convenience stores, hardware stores and even some petrol stations. I suppose slippers are such a basic commodity in Japan, quite unlike over here in the UK, where many people never even wear slippers.

We don't have "slippers" for sale everywhere here in the states, but we do have what we call flip-flops or thongs sold practically everywhere.

Flip flops can make good slippers, particularly in the summer. The only problem is that people will think they are outdoor footwear and are less likely to remove their shoes without being asked.

I prefer to go barefoot in warm weather and wear slippers when it is colder.

You are from Texas? I guess you have a lot more warm weather than we do.
