Am I going Catholic?

I went to the Anglican cathedral to pray today. I knelt down, but before I did I took off my sandals to pray barefoot. That does not seem very Protestant, though it does seem more reverant.

I thought that taking shoes off in a place of worship was a Muslim custom.

It is. And also in Hinduism, Skihism and Buddhism.

In Christianity, the custom of removing shoes is less common.

Coptic and Syrian Orthodox practice it. It is also practiced in some countries in which shoe removing is the norm, such as India and Japan.

In Roman Catholicism, there is a tradition of praying barefoot at certain shrines.

Henrietta Maria, the Catholic wife of King Charles I of England went on a barefoot pilgrimage to Walsingham.

God Bless
