"No work boots beyond this point"

I walkede past a training centre in an industrial estate yesterday. At the door of the training centre was a sign that said "No work boots beyond this point." I had not seen a sign like that before. Very sensible of the firm to want to look after its floors.

Have you seen that rather dreadful
BBC series Keeping up appearances.Where all workmens boots were deposited at the door or they do not get in the house. There is nothing "twee" about this.We had(growing up)and have now rather nice houses and neither my parents or my present family would allow workmen in the house in boots full stop.

I can't say I am a fan of that programme, but I have seen plenty of episodes.

Hyacinth Bucket does seem to have an inconsistent shoes-off rule; it looks like she keeps her own shoes on, I think.

The programme seems to imply that asking people to remove their shoes is pretentious.

In actual fact, over here, the posher people are, the less likely they are to ask visitors to remove shoes. Or so it seems to me.

Richyrich, are you reading this?

Do you have any thoughts on 'Keeping up appearances?'
