Tales of a Garlic and Onion Lover- Mix-up Monday: House Shoes

'When you go to a house in Germany the odds are you will be asked to take off your shoes. Additionally, you may be given house shoes (slippers) to wear while you are visiting.'

This is an excellent article. We prefer wearing slippers in the house rather than just going around in socks or bare feet.
We have rented a cottage in Northumberland for the Easter week and we will be respecting the property by removing shoes at the door. And we will be taking our slippers to wear.

Surely it must be warm in the summer where you live?

I prefer that people remove their shoes at the door and, if they choose, bring their own slippers. I do not make elderly disabled people do it. I have roofing paper (a throw away) in the hallway with a chair to sit on and to anchor it. I live on Cape Cod which is wet in the winter and sandy in the summer. Both of these will destroy hardwood floors so these are the reasons I prefer it.

Good for you.

We really haven't had a good warm summer since the scorcher of 2006!

This article is a pretty good read, it looks at both sides of the debate. I must admit after looking at both sides, both have some pretty strong arguments.

I'm a shoes on kinda person though (Unless of course my shoes are obviously dirty).

That's quite an old article. I might have posted it before, I can't remember.

I live in one of the areas where there has been a lot of snow.

On the second day of snow, I decided to walk to work, and wore wellies. Rather than taking shoes I decided to just work in my socks.

One of the ladies in the office complimented me on my socks and since then she has done the same thing.
