Sign still there

With the election coming up in May, I was out delivering leaflets for the Conservative party.

Last year I mentioned that while out canvassing I came across an house with a shoes-off sign. I was leafleting in the same area and they still have their sign up.

Tacking a sign up outside your door advising visitors to remove shoes is in my opinion a bit on the tacky side. I think that one should advise new guests that shoes off is required when you invite them. If an unexpected visitor arrives a polite "would you mind taking off your shoes" is appropriate.
Your door mat stating "Shoes Off" is within the bounds of reasonableness should a guest forget.
