Ask An American: Do Americans WEAR SHOES INSIDE THE HOME?

In her experience, removing shoes in the USA is uncommon, unlike Germany. However, it is a little more common in some parts of the USA.

1)Shoes maybe kept on for a TV series or a film even if produced by a shoes-off country. After all, it's not a real home space, and it's not that comfortable to follow the shoes-off policy even for authenticity.
2) the U.S. is culturally diverse including the shoes-off/on issue.

Those things are very true. I saw a Korean movie set in Japan in which people were wearing shoes inside. I would be surprised if people have their shoes off all that often on German TV.
